As per the reports, the Punjab government has decided to increase the price of the car and bikes number plates government decide to increase the rate by 15%

According to the reports the department sent a summary to chief minister Usman Buzder for approval, 750 Rs is the current price of the bike number plates and 1200 is the current price for car number plates, after the approval of the chief minister the consumer need to pay Rs 150 extra for the registration plates.

Rao Shakeel additional director general of E&TD said while talking to the media that the government signed the old contract in 2014 but after the increase in dollar prices in the last seven years it has become very hard and impossible for the department to provide these plates at the current rates.

Punjab Government Announced to launch Universal Number plates in august 2020. The ETD official showed that the issuance of more than 2 million number plates is pending and the department is taking steps to clear the backlog as soon as possible.
