On July 7, the government announced the New Auto Policy (2021-2016). Shortly after, automakers in Pakistan calculated the new policy's tax breaks and reduced their vehicle prices. Toyota led the pack, with Suzuki, Kia, Hyundai, Changan, and others close behind. It took Proton Pakistan more than a week to do the honors. The prices of the Proton Saga and Proton X70 have been revised.
Price Increases for Proton
On cars 1001-2000cc, the new auto policy reduced the Federal Excise Duty (FED) to 2.5 percent from 5 percent and the Additional Customs Duty (ACD) to 2 percent from 5 percent. Proton has reduced the prices of all three Saga variants by Rs. 50,000 as a result of this tax break.
The price of the Proton Saga Standard Manual variant has been reduced from Rs. 1,975,000 to Rs. 1,925,000.
The price of the Proton Saga Standard Automatic variant has been reduced from Rs. 2,125,000 to Rs. 2,075,000. The price of the Proton Saga Ace variant has been reduced from Rs. 2,225,000 to Rs. 2,175,000.The price of the Proton Saga Standard Automatic variant has been reduced from Rs. 2,075,000 to Rs. 2,075,000.
Proton has reduced the price of both X70 variants by Rs. 100,000 under the same tax relief of 2.5 percent FED and 2 percent ACD.
The new price of the Proton X70 Premium FWD is Rs. 4,890,000, which is lower than the previous price of Rs. 4,990,000.
The new price of the Proton X70 Executive AWD is Rs. 4,590,000, which is higher than the previous price of Rs. 4,690,000.
