Unveiling of the DJI-powered 2023 Baojun KiWi EV

Baojun, a joint venture between SAIC, GM, and Wuling, has announced that the revised Baojun KiWi EV will be available shortly. This is the first strategic partnership between SAIC-GM-Wuling and DJI, a Shenzhen-based drone manufacturer. DJI's intelligent driving technology will be included in the new and improved KiWi small EV.

The Baojun KiWi EV was first shown as a concept at the Shanghai Auto Show in 2021, and it was released in August 2021 with a price range of 77,800-86,800 RMB (PKR 24.11 lac to 27.04 lac). According to the China Passenger Car Association, 2,045 units were sold in May. Changan Benben E-Star, Chery Ant, and Leapmotor T03 are among its tiny EV competitors.

The design of the 2023 model will stay the same, but the configuration will be improved, with the highlight being the DJI vehicle-mounted intelligent driving system. The new Baojun KiWi EV is projected to start at roughly 100,000 RMB, according to Chinese media (PKR 31.24 lac).

In terms of look, the KiWi EV follows the interstellar geometry design philosophy, which emphasizes a sense of sci-tech and the future. The unusual design behind the front headlights emphasizes the sci-fi atmosphere by enhancing the impression of suspension of the automobile body. The new KiWi EV will be equipped with DJI's Autonomous Driving Domain Controller and level 2+ driving assistance features, including adaptive cruise control, lane change, lane-keeping, obstacle avoidance, and parking, thanks to the DJI vehicle-mounted intelligent driving system.

It will depend on DJI's unmanned aerial vehicle camera technology, particularly binocular camera technology, and intelligent driving technology, with an emphasis on the urban road driving and intelligent parking. The model can manage frequent urban expressways, urban congestion, diverse parking sceneries, and other driving and parking scenarios thanks to sensors that assist deploy computer power.

The KiWi EV is powered by a 40kW (54hp) motor with a peak torque of 150Nm, and its driving range is rated at 305 kilometers under NEDC standards. It has quick charging capabilities, allowing it to charge the battery from 30% to 80% in just one hour.
