Recently, the prodigal son returned to Pakistan's crossover market in the form of MG HS, a locally built crossover with reasonable pricing. But since it left the game, the competition has also become stronger.
The Haval H6 and Chery Tiggo 8 Pro are two high-end crossover SUVs that have recently arrived in Pakistan in 2022. The three flagship crossovers will be compared in this article to see which the best value is.
Everyone in the market agrees that the MG HS is a classy SUV.
The headlights are understated yet elegant, with projector lighting and distinctive DRLs that double as indicators. The "Stardust" front grille, which has a large MG emblem in the middle, is surrounded by a chrome trim piece, enhancing the SUV's opulent appearance.
Although the SUV has a standard side profile, the 18-inch alloy wheels, chrome side-impact bars, brushed aluminum roof rails, and a chrome band around the A, B, and C pillars all give it a flashier appearance.
The rear light is comparable to other BMW SUVs. These, together with pointed reflectors, dual exhausts, and a trim that resembles a scuff plate below, make for a stylish rear fascia. The overall appearance of MG HS is upscale.
The boxy form of the Haval H6 goes well with its angular front design and broad stance. Its contemporary twin projector headlights, massive chrome mesh grille, angular bumper, and squared-off front fascia all add to its commanding appearance.
There are no unnecessary sharp edges on the side profile. It has a tidy appearance thanks to the body-colored door handles, side mirrors, and single character line. The windows and door sashes' chrome trim adds a small amount of decorative flare.
The front is bold and forceful, while the back is boring. The taillight design and short rear windscreen with a duck-tail spoiler give the back end a typical crossover SUV appearance. However, the single light bar looks fantastic at night.
H6 is an eye-catching SUV that stands out from the competition overall.
The Tiggo 8 Pro has a subtle, contemporary appearance. The front has the recognizable diamond grille from the Tiggo series, automated LED headlights, contemporary twin-Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) on both sides, and a front bumper with similar styling but wider vent holes.
With 18′′ alloy wheels, chromed side impacts, brushed aluminum roof rails, and a chrome strip that extends halfway around the windows, it has a squared-off and conventional-looking side profile.
The back design is similarly quite straightforward. The Tiggo 8 Pro resembles other SUVs save for a flashy rear bumper with dual exhaust cutouts, LED taillights, and a spoiler on the tailgate.
It looks fine overall, but there isn't much "wow" about it.
One of the key factors contributing to MG HS's success is its opulent interior. Stitched leather seats, soft-touch dashboard panels, and brushed aluminum trim pieces can be found throughout the inside of the cabin.
Among its rivals in its series, HS's cabin is the largest. Four adults may travel in luxury, even on lengthy trips, because of its size. HS is a practical and opulent SUV that can accommodate a family of five.
The interior of the Haval H6 is modern and simple. Everything on the center console and dash is either a flat panel, a screen, a dial, or a little button. The surfaces, including the seats, are covered with soft fabrics.
The modern three-spoke steering wheel looks stylish, and the inside controls appear to be slick, tidy, and simple to use. The H6 has enough room to comfortably fit five people and their stuff.
The inside of the Tiggo 8 Pro exemplifies contemporary minimalism. With ambient lighting strips on the doors and dash, silver and piano black trim, big displays, and stitched leather, a straightforward dash design is elevated to a more upscale level.
The Tiggo 8 Pro is a midsize crossover SUV with a roomy interior that easily accommodates seven passengers. Overall, it features a fantastic interior that is more contemporary, fashionable, and useful than its five-seater competitors in our comparison.
With a 7-speed automatic gearbox, HS's 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine delivers 160 horsepower (hp) and 250 Newton meters (Nm) of torque only to the front wheels.
It has multi-link coil springs in the back and McPherson struts up front. The SUV is equipped with disc brakes on all four wheels, an electronic brakeforce distribution system (EBD), and brake assist (BA).
Given the size and weight of the car, the MG HS's promised fuel efficiency of 11 to 14 kilometers per liter looks like a tall claim.
The 1.6-liter turbocharged engine in the Tiggo 8 Pro produces a respectable 195 horsepower and 290 Nm of torque. It is mated to a DCT automatic transmission that only drives the front wheels.
McPherson struts make up the front suspension, while a multi-link coil spring suspension makes up the back. The car also sports disc brakes with ABS, EBD, and BA technology on every tire.
Chery says that the Tiggo 8 Pro has a fuel efficiency of over 13 kilometers per liter, while actual numbers may be less considering the size and weight of the SUV.
Haval H6 has two engine choices:
It includes independent double-wishbone suspension at the back and McPherson struts up front, which improves the ride and traction on the road. For the best stopping power, it has disc brakes on all four wheels with anti-lock ABS, EBD, and BA technology.
For the 2.0T AWD and 1.5T FWD versions, several forums have reported average fuel economy of about 10.2 km/l and 12 km/l, respectively. Depending on traffic circumstances and driving habits, these numbers may change.
The prices of all variants of these SUVs are as follows:
Model |
Price (Rs.) |
MG HS |

Essence |
6,899,000 |
Chery Tiggo 8 |
|
Pro 1.5T |
8,199,000 |
Haval H6 |

Due to effective marketing, MG HS Essence is already more well-known than its rivals, but Haval H6 and Chery Tiggo 8 Pro are now a serious threat. Although the H6 and Tiggo 8 Pro are more expensive, they both have appealing potential.
While the H6 is more technologically advanced and has superior performance in its 2.0T AWD configuration, it comes at a significantly higher price. The Oshan X7 offers better practicality with its seven seats and good amenities.
With its more affordable pricing, superior performance, and respectable features, MG HS provides greater value in this comparison. Although Chery Tiggo 8 Pro and Haval H6 are also excellent choices if you're looking for greater functionality or more features.
