The Suzuki Mehran, a 5-door hatchback, is manufactured by Pak Suzuki Motors in Pakistan. It made itsmake a big appearance in the Pakistani market in 1989 as a successor to the classic Suzuki FX and rapidly gained gigantic popularity. Known for its affordability, strength, and high resale value, the Mehran has reliably surpassed other vehicles. It's a preferred choice, particularly for those transitioning from two-wheelers to cars, with numerous Pakistanis having claimed a Mehran at some point, often as their to begin with car.
In 2012, Suzuki introduced the Euro-II model of the Mehran, which replaced the carburetor with an electronic fuel injection framework. In spite of missing present day safety highlights, the Boss variant continues to offer surprisingly well, basically due to its exceptional resale value. Even today, the 1989 Suzuki Mehran can fetch a reasonable price in the Pakistani market.
The Mehran earned the nickname "Boss" within the local market for its surprising durability and affordability. It's moderately simple to procure a Suzuki Mehran in Pakistan, especially with bank financing, and resale is hassle-free. The car's durability allows it to handle different territories without significant damage to its exterior or interior, in spite of not having a high-quality build.
Another appealing angle is its low maintenance cost, with auto parts being affordable and readily accessible, thanks to its long-standing presence within the market.
At one point, the Mehran held the title of being the most affordable new hatchback in Pakistan, but it was eventually ceased in 2019, replaced by the eighth generation Alto. As a result, the Suzuki Mehran's new price is no longer applicable, and with the rising inflation, its rate in the used car market in Pakistan has exceeded its original receipt price.
The price of Suzuki Mehran in Pakistan ranges from PKR 850,000 to PKR 990,000 for a used Suzuki Mehran. These prices of Suzuki Mehran in Pakistan vary on model year, mileage, variant and overall condition of the car.

The latest Suzuki Mehran highlights a boxy exterior design, with trapezium-shaped headlights on the front, a grille with rectangular-shaped openings on one side, and a fixed end on the other. The rear end has slightly angular square taillights and a standard hatchback design, along with dark bumpers. The higher-end Mehran VXR versions have color-matched bumpers. The exterior design reflects a moderate style characteristic of cars designed in the 1980s.
Mehran's interior highlights gray plastic trim pieces, keeping up a moderate approach. Everything is manually controlled, including windows and seat adjustments, and it lacks basic features like central locking, directing adjustment, and rear seat belts. Both front and rear seats are upholstered in vinyl. While the Boss version has a radiator, the higher-end VXR offers air conditioning and fabric seats. The interior, in spite of the car's exterior dimensions, lacks space and comfort.
The Suzuki Mehran is equipped with a 796cc 0.8-liter OHC 6-valve Inline-3 engine, delivering 39/5500 HP/RPM and a maximum torque of 59/3000 Nm/RPM. It has a top speed of 135 km/h and can accelerate from 100 km/h in approximately 24 seconds.
The Mehran gives a normal mileage of 10 KM/L within the city, offering an estimated range of 300 KM from its 30-liter fuel tank. On the highway, it achieves 13 KM/L, giving an estimated run of 390 KM.
Maintaining the Suzuki Mehran is especially cost-effective, thanks to its long presence in the market and the recognition of its repair needs by local mechanics. Auto parts are promptly available at affordable prices, simplifying maintenance.

In spite of being considered the most reasonable car in the Pakistani market, the Suzuki Mehran faces competition from several other vehicles. Competitors include Daihatsu Cuore, Suzuki Alto, Suzuki FX, Nissan Otti, Daihatsu Mira, United Bravo, Prince Pearl, and other 660cc cars in Pakistan.
The Suzuki Alto offers way better safety features, build quality, and mileage, though at a slightly higher price than the Mehran. On the other hand, the Suzuki FX is a more economical option, but with fewer features.
Daihatsu Cuore and Daihatsu Mira, with their prevalent build quality, modern safety features, and attractive exteriors, have rapidly picked up popularity in the Pakistani market, surpassing the Mehran. Their affordability and strength continue to drive demand for these models.
