The MG Cyberster EV roadster has made its formal debut at the present Guangzhou Auto Show in China, much to everyone's surprise. This electric car, which took more than two years to create, had its UK debut earlier this year and is scheduled for sale in the spring of 2024. Back in September, reservations were made for the Chinese market.
The Cyberster electric roadster has three different trim options and costs between 319,900 and 359,800 yuan ($44,300 and $49,800). SAIC, the same company that assembles the MG4 electric hatchback, is in charge of building the MG Cyberster EV in China at its Ningde plant. It's crucial to remember that the legendary MG brand, which was formerly owned by the British, was successfully revived by SAIC Motor, a state-owned automotive company in China.
The electric roadster has a streamlined design with tear-shaped LED headlights, dynamic bumpers, scissor doors, and a retractable top, all derived from the iconic MG roadster built between 1962 and 1980. A triple LCD screen arrangement, a central tunnel that houses the gear lever and cup holders, and a large flat-bottomed steering wheel with three spokes are all part of the driver-centric interior design.
There are differences in battery capacity and driving range between the three trim levels:
Additionally, MG unveiled the eye-catching AWD Special Edition, which will be on sale in March 2024 and has a unique red roof. Amazingly, MG stated that once reservations began in China, they had received 1000 pre-orders in just 50 days.
Driving an MG Cyberster EV is an exciting and promising experience. It might perhaps be included to MG Pakistan's range as an exclusive import. It provides competitive alternatives in the Pakistani automotive industry, with the base FWD 501 variation priced at PKR 1.27 crore and the top-tier AWD 520 model priced at PKR 1.42 crore. With possible savings on taxes and registration for electric vehicles, the Cyberster would be a tempting option for those willing to spend up to PKR 1.5 crore. Notably, the MG4 EV was just introduced by MG Pakistan in Pakistan, with pricing starting at PKR 1.09 crore and going up to PKR 1.29 crore.
