Bugatti achieved one direction 490.47 km/h with the Chiron super sport 330+. But SSC did a proper two-way average run with tuatara and hit a certified average of 508.7 km/h. by doing this it regains the title of the fastest production car in the world.
A British racing driver Oliver Webb drove the tuatara on the same road on which the Koenigsegg Agera RS in 2017 posted a two-way average of 447.72 km/h and gained a top speed of 457 km/h. Oliver Webb commented on the accomplishment as:
He said that there were better conditions and they could have gone faster as he approached 331 mph that is 532.7 km/h, the Tuatara reached almost 20mph within the last 5 seconds. He added that the car was not running out of steam and crosswinds are all prevented them from realizing the limitations of the car.
Talking about specification Tuatara is powered by a 5.9 liter twin-turbo V8 that churns out 1,750 hp when churning on E85. The drag coefficient is just 0.279 which is very helpful in achieving such a speed level.
The CEO of SSC said that it's been 10 years since they held this record with their first car and tuatara is lead ahead. The performance of Tuatara reflects their dedication and focus with which the achievement is pursued. They came pretty close to meet the theoretical numbers, and it is astonishing to do in real-world settings on a public road.
